BRAMPTON, Ont. A devout Sikh all his life, Baljinder Badesha never imagined that his religious devotion would compel him to race a motorcycle around an Ontario speedway to test whether turbans unravel at high speeds. The bizarre image of Mr. Badesha's experiment last year - conducted under the auspices of the Ontario Human Rights Commission - was evoked during a constitutional challenge to a law that forces motorcycle riders to wear a helmet. .
Mervyns takes Macy's site
Mervyns will fill the former Macy's property at Inland Center Mall in San Bernardino, ending a nearly two-year search by mall officials to find a major tenant for that space. Mall management and officials with the department store chain announced Feb. 25 that Mervyns will be Inland Center Mall's fourth anchor tenant. Sears, Macy's and Gottschalks already are located at the mall, which covers nearly 1 million square feet south of downtown San Bernardino next to Interstate 215. Mervyns will occupy all of the 94,011-square-foot building, which Macy's left when it moved into the former Robinsons-May building in July 2006. The Robinsons-May structure became available after Federated Department Stores Inc. in Cincinnati - now Macy's Inc.
